Creating Ice

A tall red candlestick stands before

my view of the pond –

Morning light brightens the

back field with justification.

I crane to see the wind

ripple small waves against the

thinnest of new ice forming –

creating a current against its frail

boundary – reflecting stability

awakening, building a first

resilience.
